I live near an intersection where drivers constantly run red lights. I often see them looking down at their phones. At a crosswalk, I consistently defer to bad drivers or risk getting ran over. I give absolutely no shits about the cries of a populace that doesn’t care about their fellow New Yorkers.

The 34th Street busway is expected to be undergoing construction soon. Car usage will be heavily limited and restricted to visiting local businesses only.

The Trump admin hates anything that is good for this city, and this is obviously partisan and part of the series of moves to ruin anything going on in NYC that isn’t car-centric. The administration can go fuck itself, and let’s hope NYC continues to have a spine and tell them the same.
They’re clearly going to try and make nonsensical demands otherwise they’ll keep the money hostage.
Sean McMaster, administrator of the Federal Highway Administration, wrote that he may withhold federal funding for other projects if the busway moves forward.

I think it takes a basic understanding of how the orange moron works. He spits a lot of hot air, particularly on more trivial things. Remember how his administration was setting demands for congestion pricing and making all this noise but as you have noticed, they all fell silent. He’ll move on to the next thing when it arises.
For example: he’s currently busy piping up to 40b to Argentina, blaming Democrats for the shutdown, wooing Putin, crashing the economy via tariffs and making empty promises regarding the issues in Israel.

He’s incompetent. His drive to fight this only reaches to the extent of his memory, as soon as NYC does literally anything else to better itself he will attack that next and forget this is even happening.
He’s also more bravado than brawn. He can bully small, separated immigrant families and politicians who roll over but as has been shown time and time again, when he attempts to fight NYC (which he’s been doing for decades, even before presidency) he loses because the city does not roll over. The only times he gets his way is when certain politicians (maybe named Adam’s) just do what he wants because they have no backbone.
It’s also why I’m not worried about the Gateway project or California. NY and California have both the money, and will to fight the long fight. And because the Orange Idiot is always doing unconstitutional nonsense he almost always loses.

The pendulum always swings back and forth on any issue.
I used to live near there. That’s a horrible intersection, obviously. But this looks like a ton of money and effort to make it just … 10% better?? I’m not sure that’s worthwhile.
