The food hall is closing.

Citizens Market Hall at Manhattan West to close in April | Crain’s New York Business

In a shocking turn of events, 2 MW’s crown lights have been turned on. 1 MW continues to remain dark.

One Manhattan West was lit up on MLK Day, I saw it on an Instagram post the other day. Hopefully that shot wasn’t from last year…Two MW was present though

Once again, our wishful thinking regarding the crown lighting has been all for nothing. It’s been over two weeks and the lights have not returned.

NYC should really have laws regarding keeping these lights up.

The last thing the city needs is more regulation.

Quality is not something the city aspires to anymore to be frank. America is an empire in decline. Couldn’t even make 250 years.

I agree, and so would Philip K. Howard: he is one of the best minds on the subject of good governance and simplifying laws in America. This article will offer great insight into many of the issues, comments, and concerns raised in this thread.

Excerpt - About the author.
Philip K. Howard is a leader of government and legal reform in America. He is Chair of Common Good and a bestselling author, and has advised both parties on needed reforms. In his new book, Everyday Freedom (Rodin Books, 2024), he pinpoints the source of powerlessness that is fraying American culture and causing public failure, and offers a bold vision of simpler governing frameworks to re-empower Americans in their daily choices.

Yeah that’s not reality

Right now we’re just riding the golden parachute down. I’m afraid of what happens when we reach land

We are all about to witness first hand what happens when you take a hobbled government, in the form of red tape and bureaucracy (a check on power as much as it is on progress) and turn it into a state of chaos and anarchy. The results are all very predictable.

So be careful what you wish for…and best of luck rebuilding after everything, including the bulldozer, has been plowed into the quicksand.
