I got off the N/R train in Times Square one morning (back in 2016) and as I’m coming up the stairs I hear this CLANG, CLANG, CLANG, CLANG, CLANG. I look across the street and this huge dude is taking a sledgehammer to something hard and metal.
This was a like a 20lb hammer and the guy is taking these giant swings just whacking away - not kidding it went on for a good 3 or 4 minutes and I was like wow, that’s seriously impressive I wish I was filming this but nah, he’s gotta be done. WRONG.
At the 6 minute mark I’m like holy crap, this dude is Paul freakin’ Bunyan. I finally start to film just as the shaft of the hammer kicks back and smacks him right in the face, knocking his hard hat off. The dude definitely got his frustration out, but I’m not sure he ever solved his problem.
Is that a metaphor? I don’t know but it’s a true story!
I had to go back to your post from Nov 2023 to see that they were once both fully lit over a year ago Hopefully with 270 Park as bright as it is, perhaps it’ll get some other to figure out their lighting cough111W57cough
Surprised to see both lit up. I guess they’ve spent time fixing the LEDs because I don’t see many blown-out segments. We can only pray.
It’s more disappointing that two towers there don’t have any kind of lighting. I’d expect something but there’s nothing and that’s a major disappointment.
The spiral also had potential but turned out to be a dud.
