Visionary and Canceled Projects & Proposals | Discussion

World Trade Center Site Development by KPF 2002

This plan included multiple towers built over West Street, with a 2001 feet tower standing on the current site of WTC3 and WTC4. All buildings would be built with a high line of sorts starting from Battery Park and ascending to the center of the former WTC complex. This line would run across two buildings (WTC1 and WTC2 site) to the actual tower.

The book contains two pictures of the proposal or concept, with a detailed description.

Edit:

Could not find any pictures of the proposal or concept on the internet. In the book there are two: the photo of the model in the skyline and the computer image.

This book compares a different elevation of the Bank of the Southwest Tower with existing towers.

From the book Skyscrapers Higher and Higher, published in 1995

Interesting rendering of Citicorp, notice the additional structure on the east side

Lastly

I stitched the two images of the rendering of the Bank of the Southwest Tower in the Houston skyline. From the book Southwest Center The Houston Competition, published in 1983

What year does this date to?

1962-1993. That skyline shot in the thumbnail is from the early 60’s, shortly after the Chase Tower finished construction

Great concept

I don’t know why, but… the design reminds me of Marvel.

The top view is similar to the shape of an aircraft carrier, it also reminds me of the Helicarrier
