NEW YORK | Times Square

March 14-15 update

I honestly didn’t expect this to happen so soon. As of the time I’m posting this update, the Marriott Marquis’ display is perhaps the brightest in Times Square - thanks to the testing!

April 6 update

Billboard testing for the Marriott finished a week ago and is now back to regular advertising.

The scaffolding surrounding the building still needs to be taken down, which will likely finish in a couple of days.

Continuing the same topic from my last post, a week ago I captured the exact moment the Marriott Marquis’ billboard switched from testing to regular advertising.

I might have posted this a little late, but it should still be relevant to the topic.

(Note: While a Silvercast broadcast plays near the beginning, the actual moment, which are when the split screens come on, plays right after.)

April 18 - NEW PROJECT

We have seen quite a few things going on in Times Square in 2026, such as: the Marriott Marquis billboard replacement; the Morgan Stanley renovation; and AE Outfitters’ new static advertisement (above the digital unit).

However, is something big going to happen at AE Outfitters?

I like seeing the new screens, but Times Square is just not as special as it was before. For christ sakes our phones shove ads in our faces like Times Square, I don’t see a point in going. Last time I walked around there, there was a guy walking around with a big bag of diluted weed and a cop at the nearby corner. Not falling for that trap. I literally always recommend to people to avoid Times Square and the tourist busses. I’d rather eat a glizzy a block away from the World Trade Center…and I have. I’d rather eat a glizzy anywhere in NYC other than Times Square where Spiderman and Elmo demand money from me

In the WTC area, the thing to eat is klav kalash.
