A million dollar view - This one will be printing money once it opens
Since this project has not been updated for a long time, Iām asking you in this topic what the current status is.
711 Seventh Avenue. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect.
Is the project under construction? or is it on hold? I just donāt want to start the official topic with my contribution. A quick photo will suffice as an answer.
This project has it own thread with the latest/ last post being that same article update in August.
Since I do not venture into TS as no sane person should, I do not know the status of the project but it isnāt on hold. Livecameraās that momentarily show the area show that the site has been excavated, but there is no crane yet.
Why isnāt anyone going to Times Square at the moment? Thatās a mystery to me now.
Times Square is for tourists, the average NYer avoids the area like the plague.
I havenāt been to Times Sq in 2 years I thinkā¦Thereās just nothing for me there
To me, the only thing that amazes me about Times Square is how much light emits from it. When youāre across the river, you can definitely tell what area is Times Square and I love that (birds probably do not). But being in Times Square, most of the times it hurt my sensitive eyes to the point where I get killer migraines in minutes. But worth seeing, definitely! Thereās only one Times Square
My shot from 2018, those low clouds are being lit up FROM Times Square
Is it correct to say thereās only one Times Square?
Darn it
I like the way it lights up the way from Penn Station. Itās like the Emerald City in The Wizard of Oz.
Thatās an answer I wasnāt expecting, because as a tourist I also like to avoid Times Square. During my last visit in 2017, I only went through once and that was in the morning. I hope to do something similar on my next city vacation.
I have a little anecdote about 1540 Broadway:
A man asked a worker who was digging the excavation for 1540 Broadway what was going to be done here, and he replied that a swimming pool was going in. A demolition worker said only a parking lot is going here, and finally the steel erector said very briefly āa houseā.
Were there actually 2 million people in Times Square on NYE like they said on tv?
This is definitely an active construction site.
I visited yesterday and took some photos, which are available here:
the NYT said Hundreds of thousands
They have always inflated the attendance for the ball drop, 2 million people sounds better.
Thank you Waymond for your very nice updates
Just in time for the buildingās 120th birthday. Reinvention, a required survival skill in NYC.
Looks amazing.
