NEW YORK | The Greenwich (125 Greenwich St) | 912 FT | 72 FLOORS

With all of the office and business that will happen due to the area being revitalized, I think a hotel would favor the market better. Something to cater to visitors (international or domestic) that will work or visit in the WTC.

I think, it’s very possible. Port Authority is looking to sell it and make a nice hefty profit to fund other projects that are along their line of business. They will market it to its full potential to make a good profit.

I doubt a new developer would adhere to the master plan. This site has aprox 1.2 m plus & this would most likely be a residential. This potentially could be pretty tall. Supertall tall, IMO.

Indeed, 1.2m sqft for a hotel or residential building would indeed mean a very tall tower, perhaps around the 350-380m tall mark.

A combination of both would probably be healthiest for the site. Due to the current towers going up, the market may change in a couple of years so its hard to tell how luxurious this will be.

I agree, VG.

In April 2015, he and Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin bought 21 floors of the 290,000-square-foot Crown Building on 57th Street and Fifth Avenue for $500 million and are turning it into luxury residences and a hotel. Other projects include a 30-story residential tower in SoHo designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano and a 91-story, 275-unit building at 125 Greenwich Street in lower Manhattan, both with New York development company Bizzi & Partners.

I also agree with that, chris08876. Being a hotel or a residential building is a nice touch to the World Trade Center site, just like WTC 3 or WTC Marriott Hotel was.
But… for that to work, the Tower 5 must be very safe, secure and promising to the people who wants to stay or live there.

Crazy, these projects used to be so abstract in my mind and they are suddenly starting to become real. I remember when the thread on skyscrapercity started and it was only known as the shvo tower hahah

is this still 1356ft? I thought I read it was going to be more like 1050, but I might be confusing it with another development

That curve is as delicious as the curves on Beyonce’s and J Lo’s derrières. I’d like to put some honey on their thighs and then work inward!

‘Like Caviar’

“It’s, in essence, like caviar,” Shvo said of the condos in the 91-story tower. “You get a small portion and it’s expensive, but you’re getting a small piece of it because you only need a taste.”

The foundation is being poured for the project, which has gotten about $175 million from the EB-5 visa program and is close to obtaining about $500 million in construction financing from United Overseas Bank in Singapore.

Nice!

That’s good news for this future tower!
