The whole neighborhood needs an upgrade retail wise. Mf’s buying condos for $10 million+ don’t want to be near a Rainbow, Burlington, and a bunch of other low bro storefronts that attracts “the poors” (from their perspective lol)

That is currently planned for redevelopment

It’s the major transit hub for all of BK so you see all aspects of humanity.

“Do City” -

Hilarious but accurate lol

IOW, what made Downtown Brooklyn, Downtown Brooklyn. We already have:

  1. Apple Store
  2. Target
  3. Trader Joe’s
  4. Alamo Drafthouse

What category does Macy’s fall in Desirable, or Good Riddance?

Monica Ortega, said she was devastated by the news since she shopped there as a child.
“It’s just sad to see something that you grew up with and it’s part of your life and your history, and it’s just being taken away,” she said.

I don’t go into Juniors Cheesecake a whole lot but I love that the owners decided to stay put.

Downtown BK is unique in that it never went through the bohemian phase of gentrification. It’s zooming right into the upscale transition. What we’re seeing is an awkward manifestation of this change.

The floorplans are problematic.

This building seems like it’s taken forever to complete and it’s not even amongst the largest in the city.

Floor Plans Matter. Clicking through the ‘Highline Residential’ website showing all the floor plans: I do see the “problematic” issue. :grimacing:

However, there are few good floor plans to be found: 71D has a nice layout IMHO.

BTW. I have 46 post on this topic. Click on my infoshare tag above to see all my other photos/links/comments on this thread.

I noticed that. You pretty much have to get up to a 3BR price point to get a decent layout. Partly the building footprint plus ADHD bathroom/hallway requirements.

ADHD bathroom requirements are taking a phone in with you, though I suspect you mean ADA.

The studios are particularly bad.

Yes, about 1/3 rd of the square footage is a practically unusable space comprising the foyer/hallway…

I guess there were some tricky trade-offs that needed to be made to work with the odd shaped (an somewhat small) footprint of the building.

The Vitruvian Triad: Beauty, Usefulness, Solidity - so, 2 out of 3 is not bad. The USEFULNESS factor is clearly lacking.
