Wow! That looks great.
Gorgeous.
Though a deal hasnāt been inked yet, the Post reported ātalks are advanced enough that the US arm of Japanese advertising firm Dentsu has been derailed from its play to take over [the buildingās] fourth floor.ā
Previous reports showed Facebook interested in space at several Hudson Yards properties, including 35 and 55 Hudson Yards and still-under-construction 50 Hudson Yards. Sources told the Post that those leases are still on the table and Facebook will likely scoop up square footage at both sites, which are just a few blocks apart.
Unfortunate for 2WTC. That would have been enough to get the tower started.
This is a more convenient location.
This is Great for the Train Hall.
MSG is incredibly ugly.
Itās pretty dumpy on the inside as well.
The whole area is a shit show and needs a complete revamping.
I agree. I canāt stand the Dolans. They should move their crap teams to a new arena in the Bronx. Being in the Bronx is not an impediment to the Yanks.
That filthy, disgusting arena should be razed so that a new Penn can rise. It would also be the catalyst to redeveloping the fecal area around the Worst Arena in Sports.
Amen!
All these great towers going up around the city but THIS is the project Iād prefer over everything. One of the greatest cities in the world and weāre confined to a 60s era rat maze under an outdated/over-rated arenaā¦embarrassing
When is this suppose to open?
I remember they were claiming late 2020 at the beginning of the project. Seemed like an ambitious goal at the time. Not sure if someone else has more updated info
Can someone enlighten me and understand exactly what goes away once this opens? Is all the internal infrastructure at the current Penn Station remaining untouched or are they actually shutting down sections of to be replaced by this Post Office conversion? I have tried reading to āget itā but have been baffled all these years - Will all passengers use the Post Office conversion or is it only for say Amtrak and LIRR (b/c NJT seems quite far from this).
AFAIK, nothing changes. Itās an expansion. More entrances, more waiting areas, and more stairs to the platforms, all to relieve crowding in the existing spaces. Which is a good thing.
Youāre correct that it is for Amtrak and LIRR only. NJT uses the lowest-numbered platforms, which donāt reach under the old Farley building.
I should add: the existing Penn Station is not going āuntouchedā. A separate renovation there has already started. If youāve been through the LIRR areas recently, itās quite obvious. Theyāve temporarily lowered the ceilings enough that very tall people need to duck. Not kidding. But the end result should be much higher ceilings, wider passageways, and one new entrance.
