Wow that’s the shiniest anyone has ever made Williamsburg look.
This design by Snohetta does LOOK great. The question I now have: will this Architectural Design win the Vitruvian Triad Award.![]()
There is Beauty in this design; but what about the Firmness, and Utility.
Does this building well serve the needs of the occupants, and is this building well constructed?
The answer - unfortunately - is anyones guess; as all we can see here is that this Architectural Design is truly BEAUTIFUL.![]()
The link Mackensen shared is referencing an old Snohetta proposal for One Domino Square, which was built with the Selldorf design we see now.
Thanks. I thought that photo was posted here as a current project at the Domino Surar Redevelopment.
I am not sure if this is the one there now - but this By Seldorf is a beauty. My guess (or hope) the Firmness and Utility are equally fantastic.
Firmenss, Utility and Beauty. I am fascinated and enamored with the Vitruvian Triad. As is quite obvious…. Cheers. ![]()
The iridescent cladding on One Domino Square is a winner. Selldorf’s work looks “Prison Chic” if you ask me. Their residential building at 21 East 12th Street could easily be mistaken for a jail.
Now I remember posting some photos of those glossy, glassy, iridescent panels on the facade. That was a smooth move by Seldorf Architects - makes that building POP.
If I were to Vote on the 4 Towers: best/worst. One Domino by Seldorf is the BEST. The Factory Building with the brick facade is the WORST.

are those holes in the balconies?
Yes, supposed to play with the light and make waves on the facade.
One Domino Square is well done; inside and out. Those iridescent porcelain panels on the facade look fantastic; the subtle colors change slightly depending the quality of the daylight.
The interiors are equally well done all around: especially those ‘no-mullion’ oversized windows in some of the apartments.
IMHO, One Domino Square is the best architectural design out of the 4 Towers in the Domino Sugar Redevelopment project. ![]()

That was fast! Hopefully these turn out better than the renderings.
Really wish theyd kept the Nether portal building. This looks alright, but its prime waterfront real estate. It deserves something eye-catching
