The unique massings you note also are value engineered. The floor area of the main one surely is equal to the air rights they purchased from the Art Students’ League whose building sits directly below the main massing/cantilever. Great engineering. But does it work architecturally? I’m not sure it does. Again I’ll wait and see.
This is certainly not one of Adrian Smith’s better ones.
Seems like he pulled a Foster and phoned it in for NYC.
Whack-a-mole with supertalls…What’ll they think of next?
That’s nuts. How high is that plane? Can’t be more than a mile right?
Seems about right, maybe closer to 1.2 miles.

Let’s not bring more politics here…
I basically agree with the726. A little politics is inevitable on a forum like this but please RW can you try to get rid of caustic comments about others? It doesn’t improve the forum dialog at all.
It was a joke.
Pic by me. Taken today from Eagle Rock reservation.

I knew it was a joke. But it was a good reminder
A bit of a tangent, but we were discussing different types of city planning styles in Urbanism class and I honestly wish NYC had more of a Dynamic, monumental city plan as opposed to the grid.
Is there still a restaurant on top of Eagle Rock? I got turned away for wearing sneakers at lunch. For you hikers out there who want to eat there, keep your oxfords in your trunk.
There is. Its the Highlawn Pavilion. Its a really good place for sea food. Its expensive though. If I ever propose to my gf, I’d want the wedding to be there. But I’m not ready for that yet. I quite enjoy my freedom and am not ready for 25 to life!
