Any spots around Columbus circle that you think have the requirements for a bigger supertall than CPT?
(Which hopefully takes a little bit as I’m tryna rooftop one but lets keep that on the downlow)

Not on Columbus Circle, but a few years ago we got a tantalizing glimpse of a slender megatall on the site of the Park Central Hotel. I doubt anything is set in stone right now, but the fact that a big respected firm like SOM was involved indicates that this megatall plan was seriously studied at one point.

It’s a few blocks removed from the 57th Street towers but would still be part of the Billionaire’s Row skyline:

Oh that’s nice. I could definitely see this rising still. The only complication would be funding and air rights, but considering the backing behind a project like this I’m not worried. Hopefully we see a megatall in NYC.

Can’t believe they still didn’t get all the blue film off…

Still wish they could have kept the spire. But it looks clean.
Man I wish I could get access to that balcony but now that construction is done it’s unlikely that ever happens.

I see the blue film when enlarging the photo. They will probably remove that when the window cleaning rig makes the next pass in that section. It seems this has turned into something like a paint removal process, with a lot of scraping involved. The heat, sun, adhesive and passage of time has caused the metal panels & plastic film to chemically bond/fuse together: now it takes hours to scrape that stuff off the building.

That is an odd thing to happen for sure. :man_factory_worker:

Could the spire ever technically be added back to this building? I know it likely never will and the lawsuits from NIMBYs would be endless but is it technically possible?
