NEW YORK | 50 Hudson Yards (504-522 W 34th) | 1,011 FT | 58 FLOORS

was walking home last night and saw the lights were on — and cycling through the full color spectrum. really liking the “shimmer” effect of the lighter shades in each hue.

A few buildings including 1 Manhattan West turn off at around midnight. The Goldman Sachs (200 West Street) building by the World Trade Center turns off at around 10:48PM.

maybe it could be something about not disturbing bird migration? i seem to recall something along those lines a few years ago.

I mean I don’t doubt that as a reason that lights turn off when they do, I was just mentioning/stating that theyve been turning off at midnight in general, but that I didn’t know if they were still being tested and if that lighting schedule would remain the same later on lol.

That’s actually something Philly has majorly considered as well. Several key buildings in the skyline participate

That’s a very contemporary lobby design, withholding the artwork, it’s almost futuristic in a way. Very interesting.

I also still find it very interesting that this building has it’s own Porte Cochere “hidden” within the massing, you don’t see those very often for commercial buildings.

Is the art supposed to be psychedelic mushrooms!? :mushroom: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

A lot of Frank Stella’s work is kind of crazy, but I don’t know if it’s specifically supposed to be showing mushroom lol. I think it’s just supposed to be an explosion of colors and materials, but I can’t find the individual names of the artwork.

Apparently this building is now also opened according to F+P. So now, all of Hudson Yards Phase I is complete.

Nice. Now I wonder when they’ll start on the platform for phase 2

Yes, they had an opening ceremony last night. Phase I for Related is now completed. As for Phase II, I heard that there is a process of designing with the casino. It’s a big site and the design would probably have amenities, residential, and of course affordable housing to win the community board, borough president and so on support for the casino license. I know the RFP for the casino licenses would start in early 23’, so we should maybe see something maybe spring or early summer of 23’.

Not that it belongs in this thread, but the resort is being built “independent” of everything else planned in Phase II, it’s not all being built in one complex, so it’s highly likely that the resort is being planned for where the west tower would’ve risen, since Wynn Resorts also mentioned in a press release that they wouldn’t need much room to generate a lot of revenue.

But in general the platform would need to be fully constructed before any construction starts above it just as the Phase I platform was.

they claim all the residential and park space will still be built so its definitely all in the commercial tower
