Who’s the architect on the new filing?
With that information, looks like it got a height increase of 76 feet. The thread here says it’s 1039 FT and the increased height says 1115. That’s awesome.
Here’s how the site looks from my visit in November. Hopefully, if this resumes soon there will be activity.
I mean that’s cool but this new design may be a downgrade
Yeah I really liked this design and hoped it would be built.
It looks like a more boring version of this other Handel project:
Gross.
I actually like the top of Madison House. I didnt think upon seeing the article, even though there is a new architect, that the new version would be so blocky.
It looks like the facade is trying to have some dynamic to it, but it’s not very strong. I just wish it wasn’t so blocky, or didnt have a flat top.
At 1115 ft it’ll be quite prominent on the downtown skyline, taller than 3 WTC. It looks a lot more like an ordinary office building with this design.
Hideous … I would’ve expected them to think to themselves… “Hmm… the previous proposal looked pretty art deco and nice, maybe we could relive it.”
But nope. Another box. Greattt!
Do you think that’s an outdated rendering? Perhaps it’s older. I hope so. We’ll see
You have to be f*cking kidding me
I’m pretty sure it’s recent since Gemdale only just filed plans for the site in October and changed their plans last week like the article mentioned. I don’t think they would be using it on their site either if it was old.
This is a massive downgrade. Whats with these heinous neo-international style crapboxes downtown being built? We have enough original ugly boxes.
That older design was spectacular. What a loss.
There is a slim chance that the crap design is old because another boxy design for the site I found here is also boxy and mediocre.
That design is also from 2014 though. The design DeSelby posted is from the Gemdale website/is from Handel Architects.
hope the south facade will not be huge blanket wall
Cetra design > Handel design
This is an inferior design, but it makes sense. High-end condos are presently not very viable for FiDi. The prior design seems like it would be too costly for rentals.
In my opinion, FiDi is an obsolete business district, but it has the potential to be a truly magnificent residential area.
The City should start with this:
Where are people getting the 1115 height from? I didn’t see that from the article.
