To me this building is a triumph just for disappointing those Sutton NIMBYs. A giant (attractive) middle finger to them.
That it turned out nice was a bonus.

This one works for me. The geometry is beautifully crafted to draw eyes up with a simple but contrasting palette that is very well designed. A single color would have given us just another boring rectangular box.
Yeah, I’m not an architect but for whatever reason this is one of the most beautiful buildings in New York.

Unfortunate manufactured hysteria by the neighbors across the street that were losing their views and status as tallest building on the block…
