NEW YORK | World Trade Center District

Close enough

Also, found a less known render, BIG’s had terrace lighting in it’s final revision, potentially.

Slowly but surely, more and more satelite dishes appear on 1’s communication ring. I hope it’ll end up looking as originally conceived eventually (well, without the radome cladding).

Ingels’ Tower 2 vs. Foster’s latest:

Photo source (I know, the photo predates 45 Park – but the view is better without it anyway in its current state!)

The new Foster design and 45 Park Place will communicate greatly…when both are complete.

Anyone been by the Oculus lately? Passed through this morning and oh boy does it need a paint job…BAD. I couldn’t get any answers if they plan to do so. It looks like they did a half assed paint job on the exterior columns that only goes as high as a human arm can extend. Hopefully that’s on the list to do.

I walk through/by the Oculus multiple times a day, it’s been like that for a while now, years even, unfortunately.

The outside shell/coat of paint is extremely dirty, can’t imagine the amount of people touching it daily to make it appear like that.

They’ve been doing a lot of work throughout the year on the ends, but I haven’t seen anything being done on the sides.

I must be totally oblivious because I never noticed until today how rough it’s looking - maybe because I’m usually darting through the place lol.

Such a shame for such an expensive and iconic building that they don’t keep up with it as they should. It can’t be that difficult for them to paint this thing as necessary (though costly I’m sure). Just another thing gone wrong with the Oculus - I’ve given up hope the skylight will ever be truly repaired.

I appreciate the response!

Isn’t this Calatrava’s specialty? Overpriced buildings with shoddy work and craftsmanship?

Don’t get me wrong I love how beautiful his buildings look but the practicality from a maintenance side has been the architect’s weakness for a while.
