Every single one of these designs is better than what we got.
Fantastic photos!!
You can see the floor that is a true octagon.
I like that you added the radome to 1WTCs spire, it really shows how much better it wouldve looked. Unfortunate that they couldnt come up with an alternative for it besides leaving it bare.
Also the spires to 3WTC.
I like the BIG design the most out of those three.
The north pool is either being tested or is back to fully up and running. One camera shows water actively running while the other just shows water present in the pool
Seems to be back on for good .
It looks fresh. You can clearly see the difference between the nicely polished North Pool compared to the wear on the South Pool - whose turn for maintenance and deep cleaning is coming up next shortly after the anniversary.
Edit: Not running as of this morning after running most of yesterday - but it’s still filled with water. Maybe there’s a little work left to do before the anniversary.
Edit 2: Back up and running as of this afternoon😅
I’m glad you like it! I thought that the radome was an integral part of the complex’s proposed overall look during that time and so was important to include in the rendering – along with 2WTC’s diamonds and 3WTC’s spires, the whole complex would have formed a very dramatic, spiky skyline.
An aerial view of the complex’s evolution, including 2WTC and 5WTC:
I almost forgot how much better the antenna would’ve looked (almost like a second Statue of Liberty torch vs a giant metal middle finger) but I suppose it’s something we just have to accept. Foster’s original 2WTC design was always my favorite, but I just hope it’s completed by the 30th anniversary
Fosters design will always be my favorite. I actually really liked the 2nd design of 5wtc though it throwing off the spiral affect would have bugged me. I’m looking forward to what we’ll be getting though. Hopefully we’ll see some prep work starting soon
Do you have the pre-height cut version of BIG’s design? That height cut instantly brought the BIG design from the best to the worst IMO.
Memorial pool cleaning
honorable job, but God I don’t think I’d do it 8 hrs a night and five days a weeks
It’s a honorable job with deep meaning, for the cleaner as well.
A detailed documentary was done last year:
