In this picture, one of my two (Megatall) concepts is being built. The Twin Towers of the Mackensen Tower complex with a projected height of 1900 feet.
1900 feet is not yet a megatall but what is another 100 feet.
Where would be other Megatall locations in New York?
Great concept! Would be cool if a high-end supertall or low-end megatall is placed there.
600 meters or 1968 ft is considered a start of a megatall. As for the locations I’d say either around Penn Station or where the Port Authority Bus Terminal is, or even Lower Manhattan.
Roof glass is designed in either white metallic, white hologram or glas white bar. Or with roof garden with light-flooded design of the roof facade dan would be the MSG one floor higher.
This includes a 1700 foot tower next to Bank of America on Bryant Park, a centerpiece for the new midtown skyline. I also added a 1400 footer on 5th Avenue.
If they aren’t going to restore the original (they aren’t) I would have hoped for something ambitious like a megatall but it seems the tallest will be 1,200 ft.
Also MSG is staying. Which is meh.
I hate the MSG neighborhood. It lacks the grandness of a world class city. The above proposal includes lots of renovations and construction of many new buildings including a landmark megatall to revitalize the area.
Assuming there is bedrock down there I think Roosevelt Island would be a cool place for a massive skyscraper. Since they are trying to make that a “NY tech hub”
I agree, I say use eminent domain tear most of MSG neighborhood down and start fresh. Build for the next 100 years, not just to give short term profits to 70/80 year old men.
I feel the like city owns a lot of it. So maybe developers could get a deal. Maybe IDK.
I think that site has potential though because its always seemed under utilized. Thats why I like the idea of making the island a self contained “tech hub” incubator. Or maybe a hospital / medical center. IDK just something that could be contained on a little island. Like a city within a city.
Hell’s Kitchen would be the perfect location for a mini-vegas. I am thinking 3 casinos on the Hudson River shoreline, and 12 more scattered throughout the rest of the neighborhood. With an average building height of around 50 stories or so, maybe a little taller, the Midtown development would finally stretch the width of the island. The city would also finally have Three big segments to Midtown. Midtown East would be big corporations, institutions and firms to bring in guaranteed, massive sums of recurring revenue. Central Midtown would be entertainment, shopping, and theaters. Not as big in terms of revenue, but it’s still guaranteed and recurring. West Midtown would be hotels and casinos to bring in risky, but large sums of revenue. Developers would also have a chance to build new building types in the area on a massive scale, gaining a massive amount of needed experience. Plus, one no longer has to travel all the way to Atlantic City. Add in a couple buildings akin to the unbuilt Larkin Building as seed projects to bring additional traffic, and you’re set.
Gordon Ramsay could move some of his shows to New York City, such as the obvious branding opportunity Hell’s Kitchen, but also, he could move MasterChef and Next Level Chef to New York City as well.
That island is perfect for an entertainment district with convention centers as well as stadiums. Maybe a super tall that could be the anchor as a condo / hotel / commercial property.
It just seems too perfect not to do something like that. You would just have to find some way to connect it with transit. Maybe a dedicated line going straight there from Penn or something. One can dream.
