we can’t have nice things ![]()
As much as I’d like to think those fences will remain looking like that for years to come, I’d give it a few days after reopening before people place locks, gum, and other stuff on it
While I’m sure this was a cheaper option vs higher glass/railings, it kinda cheapens the aesthetic imo (feels less like an architectural centerpiece and more like a playground fence in the Bronx)
Pineapple in a mesh bag. ![]()
My girlfriend has one of those bags and apparently they’re all the rage right now @infoshare so style points for you!
What about the inside? Thats where it will really show
this thread should be renamed to “The Chicken Coop” ![]()
Good one. Or perhaps - Heatherwicks’ Hen House… ![]()

It appears to be also done on the inside.
@Alemel’s 2nd photo, if you look hard enough shows the netting brackets visible on the inside.
They haven’t added the netting to the majority of the structure yet but the support frame is up to the inside of the second to last level, just needs to be added to the outside part since the top most level won’t be accessible.
The structure for the netting has fully been in place for about 2 weeks, but the netting was not being put up at the same pace/same time so it will be slightly longer for all of it to be put up.
This better be the best net in the entire world for the literal years it took to install this.
To be fair, the iteration of the netting we see now only started being installed earlier this year. Its not the same one as the first test prototype netting that went up in late 2022.
Wouldn’t that be Jason Kidd? Dude was a legend back in the day.
I need to correct what I’ve previously said, all of the supports for the netting have not been installed, only around half of the have been, mostly on the southern side, but the northern side does not have any supports, and the amount of netting put up on the southern side is also about 50ish% up. So only about 1/4th, or probably less, of the netting has been installed.
Reopening on Monday.
That netting will be effective in preventing any more suicide attempts; but the viewing experience has been greatly compromised.
This would have been a MUCH better idea - I posed that opinion on this very thread.
This ‘shade structure’ would also serve as sort-of a fall-break trampoline. Also, take a look at that construction worker in the photo; his fall was cushioned - and he seems to be having a lot of fun too… ![]()

BTW - I have 17 other posts on this topic. Click on my infoshare tag above to see my other comments/photos/links.
Long line (as expected), I’m still glad I was able to visit when it first opened and was free and not $10 with a netting.
Did you like the experience?
