NEW YORK | The Brooklyn Tower (9 DeKalb Ave) | 1,073 FT | 74 FLOORS

I was expecting that corner entrance to look more… grand? Is it still unfinished? Other than whatever’s covering the windows inside, it doesn’t really invoke a sense of “WOW!” like I thought it would  Also, has anyone checked out the integration with the Dime Savings building?

Well we know where everyone will go to pee.

Any renders of the corner that exist all basically show a very simple entrance, as is what was built. The corner is just a podium retail entrance, it’s not a residential entrance.

View of @thebrooklyntower as seen from the up and coming Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn in 2023. This vantage point from street level has since been erased by 300 Nevins and the Nevins Landing development project.

And that’s why I love photographs like this in such a “lonesome” time period. You get these exclusive perspectives that will only last a year or less than. And though that photograph is microscopic in terms of the entire universe itself, it’s equivalently important (I believe) as it shows a limited historic era and a time like many where hundreds have worked for an with each other to make something so massive worldwide. Yet so submissive compared to the entire universe

Which is why I love this exact photograph from 1988
