is taking photos of construction sites an essential reason for being on MTA property?
YIMBY forum members and research soldiers go above and beyond the call of duty to document growth and bask in our hobby and passion.
I’d imagine folks ask for permission… but if they don’t, like the mob would say… who me… i don’t know nothin’ ![]()
who would grant permission to get on an MTA train in the middle of a pandemic to take photos of a construction site? This really does need to be reported to the police.
Trains are still running. Anyone can ride one for whatever reason they wish. I would do it if I absolutely had to but with mask, gloves and my safety glasses.
The MTA asks that people not take any NYC transit unless it’s essential. It’s important that people respect that, for everyone’s safety.
Our hobby is obviously not essential. However, if someone is a nurse, grocery store employee, etc. and takes a photo on their commute to work, that’s obviously fine.
And if someone here wants to go out and take photos, riding a bike is a good, safe way to get around the city for any non-essential purpose, as long as safe distancing is observed.
On the right.

This is a fine start to a large mass. ![]()
Media has been deemed essential by the Governor’s orders.

Not to be rude but you are acting like a bit of a fascist… saying someone should be reported to the police for taking the train when they are deemed essential is both ignorant and wrong. Additionally I think these photos were all taken before the order was even in place, not that it would matter one way or the other.
I am sorry. I can’t argue with Godwin’s law. Feel free to deactivate my YIMBY Forums account.
I didn’t compare you to Hitler / Nazis therefore Godwin’s Law is inapplicable, and I am not deactivating your account as I also believe in freedom of speech. ![]()
Godwin’s law itself can be abused as a distraction, diversion or even as censorship, fallaciously miscasting an opponent’s argument as hyperbole when the comparisons made by the argument are actually appropriate
Right, you didn’t compare Waymond to Hitler, you only compared him to Mussolini (surely done in deference to the Lombardy outbreak). A valid point was made and the civilized way to make a rebuttal was demonstrated by rbrome. Accusing Waymond of being a facist was a form of censorship in the spirit of Godwin’s Law. Please try harder YIMBY. 33 MTA workers and counting is no joke.
Is the curtainwall still active at this site?
