1990s, grabbed from another thread
Crazy how the ESB stood uncontested in Midtown for almost 80 years
When I was a kid I used to call this the “Pencil” Building.
Ok last one for tonight, Worldwide Plaza models from SOM. baby plazettes
I can say for certain I probably would not enjoy this building as much as I do if it had a circular window towards the top
I have these photos somewhere in a bit higher quality but I can’t find them at the moment
External steel tube construction with multi-story shop prefabs makes those construction photos look eerily like WTC 1.0. The main tower body even has those corner cuts.
I need 2 Worldwide Plaza photos HELP
from Santi-Jose Acosta on Facebook
(no point in making an individual thread for this building, he can share this one)
Jeez. It seems you yourself are finding more media on this one building than me researching One Liberty Place. Nice fucking work man!
I just found this, the one photo I presume you’re looking for shows the crown without cladding while under construction
damn bro i think u might like one worldwide plaza
Thank you- I am always on the search for more images. My main goal of this thread was to figure out exactly what year(s) the oxidation occurred on the roof but it’s now turned into just a photo thread.. I am running out of material though
From the Skyscraper book
I believe this last image here is facing east and includes Two Worldwide Plaza in the foreground
Just a suggestion, get a digital scanner to preserve these images with great quality. I’ve put several of my post cards and books on my scanner, I love how it contributes to preservation
Here’s a photo I scanned that was taken in 1986, from a Philadelphia Picture Memory book published in 1987 by Bill Harris. A lovely suggestion from @Mackensen along with the book published by Bill Harris in 1988. Both books show prominent progress of One Commerce Square and One Liberty Place when Philadelphia was first receiving skyscrapers
