That ceiling with the skyscrapers looks sick! Also looks like they made it shaped like the island of Manhattan

I worked on that project :slightly_smiling_face:

that’s great, but there’s no access to most NJT and Amtrak tracks. In a couple of years Long Islanders will be commuting to both Grand Central and Moynihan, while New Jerseyites will still be stuck with the escalators to the MSG basement.

Right. Amtrak customers finally get a nice station but regular New York City area commuters get treated terribly. As a matter of transportation planning this station is horrible.

Can they do eminent domain?? Another maybe good idea is maybe tear down 2 Penn plaza, have a grand entrance on 7th ave then, working around msg. Also redo the exterior of msg too.

Consider yourself lucky then. Amazing work!

Looks great!

It’ll truly be a miracle when that POS MSG is relocated and the true Penn rises again.

Correct that Moynihan does not serve most NJT tracks, but it does serve most Amtrak tracks. A lot of people don’t realize how many platforms extend way past 8th Ave.

The unfortunate reality is that NJT is no more than a tenant in Penn Station. As a result NJT is always treated as second-class. What NYC really needs is one unified regional transit authority. The Port Authority could grow to serve that role if they weren’t so horribly corrupt and mismanaged.

I’m with the sentiment of at least it’s a start. The New Grand Hall will be more of a tourist destination once East Side Access is operational. It’s instagrammable, but it won’t be very packed once half of Long Island is coming into East Midtown instead of the West Side.

^^ But Metro-North trains will also be coming in to the West Side as part of East Side access as well, right? Overall, I’m not sure what’s the net amount of people the entire Penn Station complex stands to lose, if any.

Not a bad looking clock, but it lacks the beauty of the Grand Central Terminal clock. Looks like a prop out of a “1984” movie adaptation.
