Today I learned that they came very close to tearing down 48 Wall Street for the jumbo chode 60 Wall Street, but eventually just tore down 52 Wall Street

August 1962: The Pearl Street facade of the colonial style Franklin National Bank Building at 100 Water Street; foundation work was underway at the time

Circa 1968, the building is still visible. It would be hidden by the South Street redevelopment and later demolished in 1987.

Anybody know anything about the origin of 219 Church Street? I’ve always been fascinated by this forebidding structure with all those weird exhaust manifolds

Ah, found it. Its called the AT&T Long Lines Building. I guess 219 church is also known as 33 Thomas Street. Really interesting article here:
