Nothing relating to Phase 2 has started. The new tunnel construction has been going on for a while, not really new news.

Recent photo taken while passing Hudson Yards.
I was trying to figure out which of the Hudson Yards buildings is the ‘best’ work of Architecture. I have a definite favorite for what I believe qualifies as the BEST of the bunch.
I have no clear or factual basis for the my choice; but my choice would be that one building designed by SOM.
That being said, I am going to work on some sort criteria that I would serve as an explicit basis for making a claim the this building ( or any building) is the BEST; I want something more than the general accolades of Architectural Excellence.
I would call that formal criteria for evaluation something like : The 12 attributes of Architectural Excellence. I would subdivide those attributes into the 3 categories of the Vitruvian Triad - Utility, Solidity and beauty.
The 4 key Attributes for UTILITY would be defined and explicitly stated; and then 4 key attributes for SOLIDITY, and then 4 attributes for BEAUTY.
So, for now I can only say: the winner for the BEST building at Hudson Yards is the one designed by SOM - IMHO.
BTW - I may not ever get to finish this project of evaluating Architectural Excellence: but thought I might share the idea here anyway.

Seems likely to fail just like the “Citizens” predecessor food court failed. It seems like there are already far more dining amenities in the area than the current population can support.
