Probably just placeholders, probably not
I think this gives us a better idea of what to expect. Before we had generic glass placeholders. These new placeholders display some of the quirks of their architects. Stern’s limestone/precast throwbacks, Gehry’s deconstructionism, Calatrava’s floating cubes…
I’m assuming this is a parking garage, or one of the schools?
Yeah my guess is they’re at least based on versions of the real designs (although they could be well out of date by the time Phase II actually rises). You can see the signature styles of RAMS and Gehry on display. The Gehry tower looks pretty good to me, and it’s close to the same height as 35 HY if this is at all to scale. The office tower is… funky. It’s hard to tell what’s going on with the perspective, but it reminds me of a melting honeycomb.
Wow, that makes me excited for Phase 2. I like the varying styles, shapes and cladding.
Some of those look difficult to 3d model, but I’m up for the challenge
The twins on the southern side are def Stern looking.
I really hope that isnt Calatrava’s contribution.
Big fat blob in the middle, which then gets value engineered so much the volumes are all the same anyway
the mall and vessel are closed. I expect the city to eventually halt construction (if they havent already) at The Spiral and 50 Hudson Yards because of how on top of each other they are there.
Thank you media, very cruel!
“Media”?
I’m only talking about the way bigger media sources are over reporting about the virus. I know it’s a whole pandemic, but they are over reporting it and making people freak out to empty stores. I know that’s the news’s purpose, but having nearly every single story be about Coronavirus is very annoying. They don’t even talk about how many people have already been cured, they just keep talking about death to keep is in fear to buy more stuff. Notice when they first shut sports and talking about Disney shutting down all of the stocks were dropping, the DOW was at a record low. Now that we have millions of people emptying stores the DOW has been going up…last time I saw it (just looked it up and saw it was down again.)
I’ve been trying to be so distant from media because you don’t know what story is real or false. They pump so many click baity stories just for clicks and views, media is not trustworthy anymore.
Also keep in mind I’m not like you guys watching stocks and everything, I love skyscrapers and that’s exactly why I’m here
You’re spot on. The media is being reckless and irresponsible… many people I know who are young and healthy legitimately think they are at risk of death from the virus- so instead of simply trying to be hygienic, and focusing on the legitimately vulnerable people they know, they hide and hoard for themselves and waste their time panicking and complaining on the internet about how not enough industries have been taken out of commission.
Meanwhile amazon adds a hundred thousand jobs while many mom and pop shops will meet their end across the region. Funny coincidence that Jeff Bezos owns the Washington post, huh…
