"We were promised years ago when that project first launched a school, affordable housing, open space,” Hoylman said. “So we’re not willing to relinquish any of that.” "
“A Related spokesman said those elements would still be included in the development, even if the casino goes forward.”
In what context are you speaking though? @Jaydayvis
I still personally prefer that the resort only occupy a portion of the site, where the proposed west tower was to be built opposite 35 Hudson Yards. That would give the opportunity for a One Barangaroo/Crown Sydney like building but slightly bigger in what zoning would permit for that site.
Since we don’t know what the scope/extent of the project is (in terms of full or partial site), Related and Wynn can either go all out and use all of Phase II do build something very nice or keep the residential portion that is greatly needed in the city and put the casino/resort on the West side tower site.
So we still don’t know if it will be on a portion of the site or cover all of it. But either way, it will probably be some time before we see anything like renders, even with the issue of issuing the gaming license at the forefront, I don’t think that will stop them from still coming up with a plan.
Casino Resorts normally have convention center like spaces, though that isn’t really necessary since Javits is right next door, but I do think it would be interesting if Javits was to expand again for the resort on the lot between it and Phase II at the end of the highline and the casino resort connected to it. That lot is already owned by the state/Javits so they could definitely expand that direction and connect to the resort somehow. I believe a commercial tower and 2 residential towers are what is currently planned for that site.
Lol ^^^, but I’ve also seen some proposals that do show a south expansion to Javits, just not a full one that interrupts 34th St, rather its connected by a pedestrian bridge. But it’s up to the state for whatever will be built there, the site is also a location that Gov Hochul has been looking at for affordable housing as part of the RFP with 418 11th Ave.
Which one? The 3 towers or the possible south expansion? There’s not really any solidified plans for it yet, the towers are just what is always shown in renders relating to the Convention center and Hudson Yards special district site plans (old and new). I’ve seen them proposed more than a south expansion.
Considering I’m the only one that has posted images of vegas hotels, please point out to me where I said they would look good in NY. I said I would more prefer to see one design over the other in a NY context, not that they would look good. You’re completely missing the entire premise of me even posting the images considering the context involving Wynn Resorts.
