this area looks beautiful, too bad the canal is still toxic

True. I think filling that Canal with concrete and creating a landscaped walkway would have been a better way to go with the Rezoning Plans. The idea of adaptive reuse for the outdated highline structure has become a beautiful public park.
The Gowanus Canal Rezoning could have been similar: a below grade walkway - instead of an ‘above grade’ walkway like the High Line.
They should have constacted me for my input.

Yes, THIS….or something similar. They should have consulted US on this project…
We could then name it something charming like “Sweetwater Walk”…
Instead now we have “Stinkwater Walk”…
Idk I understand it’s still not great, but they’ve invested a lot into cleaning it up, I think in the longer term the canal will be more valuable to the neighborhood. At this rate in 10- or 20-years people will forget there was ever the sludge and just appreciate the open space.

The brickwork is evocative of all the amazing brickwork-design that is done in Tehran. Hopefully more projects adopt this.
