Although I’m not a fan of some of the new developments on 4th Avenue, I’m starting to appreciate the scale and urbanity that is emerging as the gaps between the new buildings are being filled. With these heights and density, the area will have a unique feel compared to other canyons in New York.
Agreed. It’s like a down market Park Avenue. I think the same thing will happen to Atlantic Ave. I fully expect 4th to get Park Ave median tree-tment, which is fitting as it was also known as 4th Avenue before Vanderbilts improvement project turned it into what it is today.
@Alemel Do you think a pedestrian walkway/bikepath on a median (like Eastern Parkway) would be better than the bike lanes we have now on either side of 4th?
I don’t think the width of 4th Ave can accommodate bike paths like Eastern Pkwy. Also, 4th Ave is a much more commercial thoroughfare; having the riders closer to the stores makes more sense, IMO.
Looks great!
@Max I had to checked it out - looks great in person too.
This is the building on 3rd St - the quality of the brickwork is phenomenal
Now if they would just re-open the 3rd street bridge…
They are redoing the edge of the park by Whole Food
Close to the construction - they are wrapping up.
