NEW YORK | Governor Mario M. Cuomo (Tappan Zee) Bridge

YIMBY has not censored any of the pointless, or potentially offensive, posts made on this thread: they have given the forum members here a notice that we may want to “ignore” the comments.

This is a very good way - to let you have your say…!

Ikr. Some of these comments sound like stoking ethnic hatred/promoting ethnic superiority.

If Mario Cuomo were still alive I’d like to think he’d be embarrassed by his son’s behavior and disappointed how it impacted his own legacy, but that has nothing to do with the structure.

Personally no matter what the current official name, I call this bridge the Tappan Zee the same way I continue to refer to the Queenboro/59th St Bridge, not the Ed Koch bridge (but maybe that’s me showing my age).

This forum and website is only dedicated to development talk. Sure, politics can heavily tie into developments (look at Jeddah Tower) but that is a conversation most people don’t enjoy these days because too many people are thick headed about their opinion. We are only to speak about developments and new construction, we have no hate for someones views or race. We are ALL equal

The discussion eventually gets back to the topic of the thread; this forum seems to have the capacity to ‘self-correct’.

Hoping moderation can just ban this fool… He’s obviously not listening.

There will be a dedicated pedestrian/bicycle overpass over I-87/I-287 parallel to Route 9 in Tarrytown, at the east end of the Cuomo Bridge.

From this recent Monday. Had to swing up to Hartford CT.

On the way back. More vibrant shot versus last visit. Much better view of NYC heading Eastbound. On a clear day, towers on the horizon.

I am still unhappy that the Hartford Whalers moved to North Carolina.

The New York State Thruway Authority and New York State Department of Transportation today announced that on-site assembly of a new 270-foot-long pedestrian/bicycle bridge is scheduled to begin on Route 9 (South Broadway) in Tarrytown on Wednesday, May 29. Work will occur during the day and require lane reductions on Route 9 near Route 119 and Paulding Avenue. This work is anticipated to take approximately six weeks to complete and will culminate with the installation of the new bridge over the Thruway (I-87/I-287).

The new bridge is part of a $13.9 million two-year multimodal project that began in spring 2023 and is funded by both the Thruway Authority and Department of Transportation. The multifaceted project will extend the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge side path one mile south to Lyndhurst Mansion, add a second left turn lane from South Broadway to the southbound Thruway entrance ramp, install a traffic signal on Route 9 at Paulding Avenue to make it safer to turn left, among other improvements for residents, motorists, visitors, and area businesses.

Years ago you could walk across the Hudson river to NJ. The ice would get that thick in winter.
