Gottheimer is a piece of s#$% Just another republican pretending to be a democrat.
If anyone here is a NJ voter, we have a gubernatorial race this year. Ras Baraka or Steve Fulop would be excellent choices who don’t capitulate to the typical rich, suburban voting demographic. They’re both supportive of congestion pricing and zoning reform to increase housing supply.
Not sure if my comment breaks the rules of the community, but it’s building of Gottheimer’s hatred of the toll.
Fulop is the one that is the most pro-transit. He wants an NJ version of the congestion toll and wants to give NJ Transit a lot of desperately needed attention. He’ll also likely kill the NJ Turnpike’s dumb extension in Hudson County considering he opposed it going through Jersey City. He’s the one I’m voting for.
Also, it’s a toll, not a tax. Idiots like Gottheimer think there’s no other way into Manhattan when you can easily avoid the toll by using transit.
Does not compute in his brain.
The coming weeks will be especially riveting.
Especially because “deals” are this gremlin’s language. So if we get to keep congestion pricing, he’ll want some kind of trade-off
That’s pretty much how everything works.
Even as President Donald Trump fights to kill congestion pricing in New York City, the program raised $48.6 million in revenue during its first month, meeting revenue goals set by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. During an MTA meeting on Monday, the agency released the first financial results for the program for January 5 to January 31, showing the toll is on track to bring in a projected $500 million per year, or about $40 million per month.
…
“We are on track for the projected $500 million in net revenue, especially as we get into warmer months when traffic will increase which provides confidence in the forecast,” MTA Co-Chief Financial Officer Jai Patel said in a press release.
If it didn’t work then Trump would have a stronger argument for killing it but it worked, as expected, so he has to resort to grasping for straws in his crusade against it.
Also, considering the average toll (added all 6 toll rates and divided by 6) is 8.5 dollars, there have been at least 5.7 million vehicles that have been tolled and countless others have been taken off the road due to the toll being an incentive to switch to transit.
So is congestion pricing paused or not? Hochul said the cameras are running but I’m hearing all different things.
I hope it’s not, I’m commuting tomorrow lol
The MTA and governor have refused to stop collecting tolls. So it’s still on.
Its on. It can only be stopped if the courts order it to be stopped. Trump can make all the threats he want but he can’t legally stop it himself.
The benefits keep on coming. Crashes are down 20% since the toll started.
And it’s good for business.
"NYSDOT and its project sponsors must cease the collection of tolls on Federal-aid highways in the CBDTP area by March 21, 2025,” Department of Transportation head Gloria Shepherd wrote in a letter to New York officials.
The Compost says Gloria Shepherd heads the federal DOT.
That’s not correct, but don’t expect the Compost to issue a correction.
The Compost (and Trump) also don’t know law and without a court order, the MTA can continue to benefit from congestion pricing.
Don’t expect a correction for that, either.
They can try but they’ll have a hard time. The MTA is not backing down. Advocates are now suing the government as well.
Some Anti-Congestion Pricing people from the suburbs speak their minds and fellate Trump:
And it’s pretty obvious why Trump hates it.
