Bro this really is the worst timeline
It is time for the governor to punish the Fourth Reich that has taken over the country. She can do so by terminating the employment of its gauleiter in New York City.
Sadly she won’t. And sadly this comment will be flagged for moderation.
So enjoy it before it gets removed!
Are they actually stopping or is the administration just saying they don’t like it?
Consider it axed. There’ll likely be lawsuits, but I don’t have much confidence in them.
Things are actually getting bleak, and I say this as an optimist.
The courts will decide whether he has the power to do so.
In theory he does not but who knows now a days.
Is it still active or people won’t get charged starting today?
Also wondering
This is probably headed to a lawsuit where a frightened judge will declare congestion pricing as void ab initio, meaning the MTA will have to:
(a) refund all fees/penalties paid by drivers beginning January 5 to their original method of payment, and
(b) rescind all outstanding penalties post haste.
A refund!? So not only will congestion pricing end but the MTA will have to refund every driver?
Doubtful
Expected, but unbelievable. This man hates anything that is actually good or makes sense. The MTA had better fight until the end to keep this successful program going. If other people can use lawsuits to halt Trump’s illegal moves, then the MTA by all means should do the same.
An agenda is obviously at play.
In fact, Duffy sided squarely with drivers, who are, on average, wealthier than their transit-using neighbors, with an attack on the very premise of congestion pricing, which sought to rebalance the societal cost of driving.
“The revenues generated under this pilot program are directed towards the transit system as opposed to the highways," he wrote. "I do not believe this is a fair deal.”
This is really the worst timeline and he seems himself as a king.
Even though Trump says he “killed” Congestion Pricing, unless a court orders the MTA to do so, they will continue to charge tolls and business will continue as usual. The MTA also filed their lawsuit first which gives them an advantage, so if the court outcome is initially undesirable, they can easily appeal the decision since they were the plaintiff, not Trump or anyone else in his orbit. The letter by Duffy saying “it’s dead” also is not valid either, considering there has to be an actual, legal reason to terminate the program.
Per the MTA Lawsuit:
- Neither the VPPP Agreement nor applicable law or regulations permit FHWA to unilaterally terminate the VPPP Agreement. This makes good sense. If FHWA had the right to unilaterally terminate a VPPP program that had already been approved and implemented, it would
create uncertainty around the future of such programs any time leadership at FHWA, USDOT, or the White House changed—uncertainty that may make it difficult to issue bonds for other projects
and would clearly undermine the purposes of the VPPP.
- To be clear, while the Trump Administration has purported to unlawfully terminate the VPPP agreement, its actions—as a mere signatory to a multi-party agreement—obviously do not require Plaintiffs to cease operation of the Program. The status quo is that Congestion Pricing continues, and unless and until a court orders otherwise, Plaintiffs will continue to operate the Program as required by New York law.
It’s extremely important to not take the words from trash such as the 'Compost too seriously since it’s misinformation at best and propaganda at worst.
Schrödinger’s congestion pricing?
Is it dead or alive?
It’s still alive until a court orders the MTA to pull the plug. Regardless of whatever Trump, Duffy or any other one of those clowns in Washington say, unless a court orders the MTA to kill it, they can’t do anything other than send letters or act all tough and boast about “killing” it.
More credible news agencies say the same thing I am saying.

How likely is the president to order the military to perform a physical destruction of the gantries?
There is a precedent from Chicago.
The president ordering the destruction of the gantries would surprise no one but it would be extremely illegal. I don’t think he would do it (but won’t rule it out, he might threaten to if things dont go his way) since his usual strategy is to tweet about it and assume it’s a done deal. If that article cites the airport destruction as mayoral overreach, Trump destroying the gantries would add to his ever-expanding presidential overreach list.
