It’s giving the new building a disappointed look lol ![]()
“Your mother and I expected better from you.” -
I don’t get all the hate for this one - probably one of the best high-rises to go up in downtown Brooklyn
I agree
I don’t hate this, but something about apartment buildings that look like office buildings just ever-so-slightly rubs me the wrong way. A residential building should have some warmth to it. This looks cold and lifeless… which I guess we just expect from office buildings, but I don’t like in a building designed to be residential from day one.
Once it is up in the skyline, does it make a difference if it is an office building or residential? We all get to experience it for what it is, and this one is quality and thoughtful design - I really enjoy its presence and how it makes the best of its location.
Truth be told, the end result is a rather lack luster outcome. That prominent corner/triangular site called for a truly superb work of Architecture: think Flat Iron Building for context.
This also has a ‘commercial building’ appearance; I like to see some stylistic distinction when possible. I think Brooklyn Tower has managed to add that added warmth/articulation that suggests that the tower is a residential building.
On the aesthetic rating scale of good/better/best - this rate a ‘good’ for Architectural Design.
However, they do get an “A” for effort. ![]()
Don’t mind me. I’m just kidding around as usual.
Mixed feelings, depending on the light and distance away. In some lighting the re dish color shows well. I like it. In other lighting or when at ba distance it seems to become a big hulk. Good but not great.
Well, we have lovers and no-so lovers of this tower in this chat.
Here is a sneak peek at the school base:
I honestly like this building. Since the Brooklyn Tower is practically finished, this is my favorite construction site in Brooklyn for now. If anything, this is an appetizer. 80 Flatbush will be the main course.
It’s fine IMO.
It’s not a box of blue glass. No ptacts, no blank wall. No gratuitous, tacked-on balconies. Some texture to the facade and sharp details to provide visual interest. So, better than most.
But there’s still that ugly mechanical bunker up top, sticking out like a sore thumb–a major annoyance of mine. If things came to a more pleasing termination, I might rate the building more highly.
The views from this tower are insane!
Could the taller building behind 80 Flatbush be the 2nd phase?
I really hope they didn’t redesign it to a box.
Yea, hopefully its just a rough massing
LOL, rough being the key word ![]()
I mean if it’s not a rough massing then whoo doggy this is worse than the initial iteration—which was also a box but at least had some slight interesting form to it. I will note it seems like they have downplayed Tower 2 in promos or renderings we saw earlier in this thread. I’m not sure if it was because they don’t have the financing or that yet another redesign was already in the works.
