I agree with above. This is one of the ones I’m most excited about in the entire city.
Awesome, it was proposed nearly a decade ago. And it’s still awesome seeing it underway now after the delays, can’t wait to see this in the skyline in the next two years
So the foundation is in?
This is an ‘artful’ work of architecture. My only concern here is what I refer to as the difference between ‘architectural idea’ and ‘physical execution’.
As an example, I am thinking of another artfully designed condo a bit further north: Gene Nouvel’s modernist masterpiece, 100 11th avenue. That building was well designed architecturally, but poorly executed physically - great architectural IDEA, but poor execution.
I have equally high hopes for this beautiful architectural idea at 570 Washington Street; and this one needs to be ‘built’ as well as it is ‘designed’. We will be watching.
Please do not let this happen - 100 11th Avenue was also a great idea, but suffers from poor execution. Shoddy construction is far too common these days.

Yep, all visible in Abot’s last photo update on May 30th, I’d assume that the basement levels have also been mostly built out at this point.
The crane wasnt installed until sometime last week though, because it wasnt there the week prior.
Edit: It appears that much hasnt changed since Abot’s photo update, the basement levels haven’t been built out yet.
Oh wow this just sprouted out of the ground! Guess I hadnt been by in a while!
They got a lot done in the last three weeks!
This will have a nice view of that greenery and the Hudson.
Yes, key feature of the ‘design’ of this building.
This is truly a beautiful building: the Vitruvian solidity, usefulness & delight are all there in good measure.
My only quibble is the ’usefulness factor’ - Those “multi-sash” windows will greatly compromise those valuable waterfront views. Perfect example of compromising ‘function’ for the sake of ‘form/style’.
Take a look at the nice lady in the photo linked below: she would have a big smile on her face if those were large single-pane windows.
This is a near perfect architectural design by the always excellent COOKFOX.
QUOTE - 550 Washington ULURP - COOKFOX
The design vision of the master plan interpreted the design economy of New York’s early high-rise icons, with massing assembled around finely sculpted towers, detailed with geometrically rigorous setbacks and planted terraces. We developed design guidelines that preserved the industrial character of the site with stone and brick, complemented by elegant, modern steel and glass details. Inspiration for the design at street level is drawn from the solid masonry construction, industrial multi-sash windows and architectural detail of the historic Hudson Square factories and printing press buildings.
