NEW YORK | 570 Fifth Avenue | ? FT | ? FLOORS

From this vantage point (230 Park Ave Cam), it looks like 10 West 47th may be fully gone/demolished and possibly 8 West. 2-6 West is streaming along.

Seems like all demolition for the site should be done by September/October.

I hope that the designs that were shown are not final. A crown would be nice here.

I wouldn’t say the designs are final, considering that we still don’t even know if it will be the office or mixed use option that is built, But I also wouldn’t say they are far off from what will eventually be built, I don’t think there will be “many” changes (that’s just speculation on my part though). The mixed-use option does have what would be considered a crown, but I think you are wanting a more elaborate one?

I can’t tell if there’s some minimal degree of setback at the top of the mixed use that would qualify as a crown. I much prefer this design to the office though.

There’s only a setback on the east face otherwise the crown is integrated into the rest of the north, south, and west faces. But it constitutes as a crown in this condition because of the way the core and by extension the parapet are integrated into the upper levels and become internally lit up, similar to China Zun, who’s top would also classify as a crown. An architectural crown doesn’t necessarily mean a feature that is differently massed, highly detailed, and/or ornate. :+1: In this same manner 343 Madison Ave also had an irregular (plain) crown.

It looks like it might have a bit of a setback on the east and north sides, but I can’t really tell.

Did that building on the corner look occupied?

I feel like its future is iffy even though it was supposedly going to get a renovation!

There are always ( last year+) just a few lights on, but overall it does not appear to be occupied.

It looks like you might be able to walk around the crown top of 343. I assume there are other renderings and documents that show this better.

I assume the mixed use one will be built. Idk residential sounds like it’ll do better.

Ofc my bias for the taller one is influencing that a lot.

Is that title height accurate? I thought it was closer to 1,060 ft.

Sincere thank you guys. I’m working towards book project and would love to get some feedback from you all when I embark on that. Architecture is nothing if not about community!
