Honestly, both of them are quite generic.
Why can’t we just get some damn masonry construction already? Challenge yourself with true, art-deco projects that exemplify New York, and stop with the pretentious half-measures of brass louvers and wooden exterior flooring.
So do you want 1 reason or multiple?
Honestly?
With such a huge plot in such a prime location they could have done much better.
576 on the corner bothers me. I was hopping for a lower ground Columbus circle-like mall and something grandiose above.
This is just preliminary not?

Down in the Diamond District, at 570 Fifth Ave., Extell has also filed permits to build a 1,100-foot supertall with 468 luxury condo units to join his International Gem Tower and another planned 534-key hotel along West 48th St.
That project is still in its early stages, but expect penthouses reminiscent of Extell’s other supertall feats: One57 (where a penthouse sold for more than $100 million) and Central Park Tower (where a unit is on the market for $65 million).
… Both 50 W. 66th St. and 570 Fifth Ave. were financially backed by the mysterious private equity firm Meridian Capital.
Even as a residential, this tower wouldnt be the same One57/CPT.
Hello everyone, glad I’m back on the forum. Just wanted to show you what the base would look like for 570. Currently, it’s in the planning board.
Looks very nice!! Also, welcome back!
Yeah. something like Tower Fifty Seven.
The Man!
As per John Sebastian:
Welcome back
To that same old place that you laughed about
Well, the names have all changed
Since you hung around
But those dreams have remained
And they’ve turned around
Who’d have thought they’d lead you
(Who’d have thought they’d lead you)
Back here where we need you?
(Back here where we need you?)
Yeah, we tease him a lot
'Cause we got him on the spot
Welcome back
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back
Welcome back, welcome back
Kinda boring to me
I like the transit improvements here. Now if they mixed the office component with the hotel and residential components for some sort of supertower, I would be in favor of this outright.
Wish the street level had some limestone to keep with the flavor of this part of 5th ave, still looks like a bland but high quality building.
I love the height and massive size of the building. It will make a very large impact on the skyline. Fifth Avenue hasn’t built a tall building since 1931!!!
It’s interesting how huge they went to make room for this new building. It’s the biggest demolition operation I’ve ever seen on this forum to make room for a new project. there were many smaller buildings in that place.
You sure 270 doesn’t top this? Or is is just in shear scale of the surrounding area you mean?
Do you remember the warren of garbage that infested the site of the BofA tower around the turn of the millennium? There were a ton of little buildings, A lot of junk has come down here too, though sadly, some nice ones were also razed.
42nd and 6th was DISGUSTING!
There’s also that block of garbage north of the Hotel Pennsylvania, that has to go as well. Any of the Britney Spears-era retailers have to be bought out, and a new tower would totally fit the bill there.
I bet Tad’s sold their steaks well done with ketchup.
