262 fifth Avenue?
- And now that I think of it, I wonder whats the status of the Korea Town buildings are that were recently demolished. They won’t be supertalls but it would be a crime for them to be empty lots where Pre-deco buildings once stood.
Wow that’s a huge building, could you post what it looks like from Rockefeller Center? I hope it doesn’t obstruct any major views
I hope the design is good… that’s a big brick in the middle of midtown
Since massing models generally reveal a future tower’s shape/form, I’m surprised at how thick this is for a residential/hotel. This is a huge site.
Finding establishing shots that are charming and approachable is about to get a whole lot harder with all these supertalls. The sitcom era of New York City is gone. Now, it’s corporate dramas and political thrillers.
I wonder if there will be a large plaza on the west side of the building between 46th and 47th. This building does not seem to occupy the entire western portion of the site. Also, there’s a little notch on the NW corner which further evidences this.
P.S.; I just read Yimby’s great article, and there will be a twenty foot wide porte cochere.
Is that satellite view from a nyc development map ?
If it is, where is it available?
No. It’s from Google Maps.
Here’s an outdated design for this parcel by KPF. We know from the massing model they’re not going to cantilever over the corner prewar like this render shows. This facade would have matched well with the International Gem Tower on the same block. But KPF is still the designer, so perhaps we’ll get something similar.
From the CB5 meeting, per SSP. Extell wants an 860 ft office tower, the alternative plan is a 1,066 ft residential tower.
Love both designs. Midtown needs for residential towers though IMO
Hmm, sounds like I want the residential plan then. Not just because of the height, but I think the residential looks slightly better. Not a ton, but slightly. (also another supertall in the crown) Not my choice tho, we’ll see what extell goes with.
Blocky blocky blocky, when will buildings get creative
Say goodbye to some iconic Top of the Rock views.
These two concepts are sexy. I do hope we get residential though
To paraphrase the great American statesman from my partial home commonwealth of Virginia (then located in British America) Patrick Henry. . .
GIVE ME THE RESIDENTIAL OR GIVE ME DEATH!
No to the smaller-sized office rendering. We have enough “semi-tall” bulky glass skyscrapers. That residential one though …. I love it (although it’s still glassy but that’s okay). Enough with the under 1000ft buildings. I’ll take that!
