Now that they’ve changed the dark windows at the top this might now be my favorite over 111 W 57th! They’re both so beautiful it’s hard to choose!

Losing competition entry for this tower by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, designers of the Shed, the High Line, and the renovated Lincoln Center.

The other architects invited to submit designs were winner Jean Nouvel, Nicholas Grimshaw (who designed Fulton Street Station), Thom Mayne/Morphosis (who designed 41 Cooper Square), and Reiser + Umemoto, but other than Nouvel their designs have never been released.

This looks to me like a lot of empty apartments in this building. I hope the architectural artistry, resulting in the angled beams blocking the windows, did not have an adverse effect on the sales potential of these condo apartments.

This building looks great on the exterior; but the quality of the ‘interiors’ are what closes the deal. :star_struck:

What is that historic building in the third image? are renovating the facade? converting into residences?

The Crown Building, being turned into part hotel and part condos. It’s on 5th ave.
