This one clearly has all three of the Vitruvian Virtues: usefulness/program, delight/beauty, firmness/solidity. The very definition of Good Architecture.
However, I do wonder - does good architecture actually result in ‘value added’ in terms of higher condo sale price. The cost of design/construction is significantly higher; and I like to believe the resale value is also ‘significantly’ higher. Alas, this remains speculation in the absence of hard data to prove the point.
I like to believe that building a beauty like this always pays off…
Robert Walpole is alive and well, he’s posting as ChiND on Skyscraperpage, one of his many aliases over there after several bannings. As to why he abruptly stopped posting on this forum, only he knows.
This one has solidly hit the Architectural sweet spot on the Vitruvian Venn diagram: Beauty + Strength + Utility.
I particularly like the fact that this is a ‘contemporary’ Architectural design; as we can clearly see here - not all modern architecture need be done in glass/metal/concrete.
This building has all the charm & visual richness of ‘historical/classical’ Architecture; but is still a solidly ‘contemporary’ design. Taking this opportunity to put in my praise for Modern architecture vs. Classical.
There is much to point at on all three aspects of the Vitrurvian Triad : but my favorite in the category of utility/function are the ‘grid-less’ windows.
