This is under construction. There was a low quality render on site- just a white outlined massing.
Found some low res renders on city realty. Not sure if they are official.
Does this go all the way to 11th Ave?
It does now. The developer combined 550 west 21st a while ago.
Fantastic!
Moved.
" While work has stalled at the foundation level of 540 West 21st Street, grand plans are in store for the building that will rise: Art dealer David Zwirner has announced that he will run a five-story flagship designed by Pritzker Prize laureate Renzo Piano . The building will be the architect’s first commercial gallery, but Mr. Piano still seeks to establish “a visual psychological connection between the building and the street,” much as he did for the nearby Whitney Museum."
I didn’t realize they had torn down the DIA museum building.
Yup. I wonder if we are still getting this.
Latest update. Sadly this is still stalled.
The luxury market is pretty saturated.

An outdoor art exhibit is now (yesterday) taking place on the construction fence.
I doubt this is being sponsored by the developer; probably some impromptu gorilla art show. Sort of like what the artist Banksy does; only this is easily removed…
It is a lot more attractive than that black long blank black wooden fence.
