Not to bump the thread, but I looked closer into promotional material in VisualHouse’s website, and at their digital twins program - 5wtc is shown in the skyline, in the cinematics they put up.

It seems as if the whole complex has got them, but they refrain from putting 2WTC in the same materials for confidentiality (5 is seen but not 2, in PENN15’s digital twin showcase).

No doubt its there because it’s Novaverse, which Foster also used for that presentation of 2 WTC we saw. I’m sure 2 WTC file is there, just hidden for these presentations

This is what I was talking about

I think theyre the same in your pic? (Aside from a small shift)

I thought we talked about the memorial-facing setback being raised

I prefer the more centered massing seen in the currently public renderings, as it more mimics 3WTC’s silhouette when both are viewed from the Hudson – though the shifted version does make the tower look slightly slimmer from some angles.

The raised memorial-facing setback however would ruin the proportions of the entire building, with an abrupt transition from very wide to very narrow rather than the gentle stepping up from the Memorial of the current massing. Directly from the west, it would just seem like a single block with a small protrusion.

A very rough edit of my rendering to approximate the model – say it ain’t so!

They’re different. The tallest section of the tower is moved back to the south more, as described above my new post as well

I think that’s the lesser of the changes, the more noticeable change was the western most mass losing its step and becoming flush at its top (as @ThreeWentDown added to his post)

Would mean more square feet in space if the right option is chosen.

I believe that could have been a main reason for the change, it couldve been when more units were being added after all the affordable housing discussions were occurring.

It’s safe to assume in this instance that the design has changed.

As I mentioned in the 2WTC random discussion, there is no reason the large scale model in 3WTC would be showing an outdated version.

I personally liked how Davis Brody Bond’s design worked with the site. There would’ve been a 120m atrium inside, from my understanding of it’s plans.

Just 100m (330’), thought I think it may have fit in more architecturally, I think it’s good to have variation in the facades, which is why I think the chosen scheme (not that KPF wasn’t always designing all the 5WTC iterations anyways) is the better scheme because it’s not just all glass.

It seems to accentuate it facing the memorial almost giving Jersey a cold shoulder.

Well we’ve only seen a view of the western side of the model, the rest of the massing to the east could’ve also changed so I wouldn’t be firm on saying that’s what it would look like (in the end).

It could of course still continue to change to the point up until and during construction.

Noticed this in the updated design

What exactly are we looking at?

I think Arik is point out that the massing of the tower in the model continues straight down instead of stopping at the podium like in the render.

I look forward to this and 2 completing the World Trade Center complex.

How magnificent.

When are they suppose to starting construction on this officially?

I’m still hoping that maybe the models are off and the design hasn’t changed
