The Commercial Observer article gives the clearest view so far of this new model:
On the one hand, this massing will have a very dull silhouette especially from the Hudson, and won’t have the nice staggered setbacks that echoed 3WTC and 4WTC. But there could be something nice in the simple geometry of two intersecting slabs (I can’t quite make it out, but the small eastern setback on the tower doesn’t seem to be present in this model).

It looked so much better before. I’m really gonna hate if it actually got tweaked

From an outside and contextual perspective, the change is uglier and not as in sync with the rest of the site. However, from the 
standpoint, there are now more units facing the Hudson River and sunsets for clients.
