I hope it stays really futuristic like this — i love the coruscant vibes Manhattan is starting to get

I really hope that this gets built. I know that Rudin’s tower will be largely empty when BlackRock exist for the HY. Does anyone know the status of 350 Park’s tenants?

This might help

Also i studied the renderings and it looks like 350 Park has a flat back, maybe it will have a similar case with 425 Park

Correct, but unlike 425 Park the backbone is not stepped back on each sides

The ~1400 ft. blank facade is horrible. So horrible in fact that I find myself hoping this tower doesn’t rise unless it’s radically revised.

If only the developers could acquire the rest of the block, making it a full-block lot from Park to Madison. In that case, the mechanical core could remain mid-block where it is now, and they could mirror the current design with diagrid setbacks on both the East and West sides.

Oh well, dare to dream.

That’s a Foster signature. He puts the elevator banks in the back.

If I were Foster, I’d have the tower flipped. Those 4 split sections with the angled floorspace popping out would look amazing if they faced NJ

Or just place the elevator banks in the middle, and have the setback shapes on both sides

I was literally thinking that!!

I assume they would have done a more symmetrical design but they’ve clearly prioritized large contiguous floorplates (tech firm configuration), which is why they couldn’t put the core in the middle. That’s what I was getting at with my comment about acquiring the full block; you could do a “double sided” design without compromising the size of the uninterrupted floors.

Yo Foster, I got my phone on me all the time. Call me for a job opportunity. What’s also funny is when I started this drawing it looked incredibly similar to 270 Park, can you see it?

Actually, the back of 122 Leadenhall might have glass over the elevator banks.

Have there been renderings of the west facade for 350 Park? Sadly, I doubt that this is what will rise anyway.

This is the closest thing to a rendering of the “back” I remember seeing. It was posted upthread by @the726.

(edit: typo fixed)

Considering how gorgeous the front is, I could live with that.

Sadly, I doubt that this particular design will even get built.

Why not?

I could see them developing something tall, but simpler. This seems like it would be pretty expensive to construct. A box with setbacks like 270 Park, which I find stunning, would be much more straightforward I suspect.

I have a way around that

Bold lines are the shape of the core. Probably would have the core thinner
