It’s coming along nicely.
Great shot @Tectonic
I like the verticality of the design.
This one is pretty comparable to 30 E 31st in terms of design approach. The Art Deco motif works a lot better than the Gothic one though.
Via cams. Had to zoom in, hence blurry nature, but we can see how dominant it is relative to its neighbors.
certainly beats the wall of blah also known as the soveriegn
Not the most exciting thing in the world, but I do like the vertical lines created by those multi-floor windows.
Gives it a nice touch.
brings some pizzazz to that corner of the skyline
Hom much taller will it get?
This condo tower looks lovely: tastefully done, yet nothing too ‘edgy’ looking. My take regarding the zoning is that the NIMBY group lost the battle; but won the war. They succeeded in zoning the entire area so future buildings will now be much lower in height, but much more ‘bulky’ in size: the resulting built environment will be less attractive - less street level open sky view/light, less air circulation. The existing zoning rules were brilliant and visionary: moving future residents upward in taller/thinner buildings - saving much light, sky views, and air circulation at the street/pedestrian level. The MANY in this city are being ruled by the un-wise, un-informed, self-serving FEW.
Very well said infoshare, especially that last line.
This is a tastefully designed condo tower: understated elegance that works just right for this exclusive, and understated, residential enclave conveniently located near midtown Manhattan. This market is saturated with pricy condos; but given the new zoning restrictions keeping the local supply limited, and the quiet residential atmosphere of the neighborhood - apartments in this building will sell well regardless of current market conditions. I like following this project: great architecture, developer intrigue, zoning battles - all very interesting. So much going on with NYC real estate development, so many fascinating projects; it is hard to keep up with all the great threads in these forums.
