That’s true. I prefer bottom heavy…
Oh wait. We’re talking about buildings.

Always coming out with those bangers, Garrison!
This building adds nothing of benefit to the skyline.
Dang, the difference between 2030 and 2021 NYC skylines is massive. And we’ve barely started the decade, there’s sure to be a ton more proposals. Also great work as always @rgarri4.
I mean, that’s kinda vague man. I could use that same complaint with literally every skyscraper ever built.
Sorry y’all but this is bad. Blocking the unobstructed view of the ESB ~which is an absolutely iconic and timeless view~ removes much, much more from the skyline than the tower adds.
Whether it’s this tower or another, that view is eventually going to be blocked anyway.
The best of the best
I meant to say there’s nothing aesthetically pleasing and I understand that’s subjective. Also the fact that it’s going to rise in front of the ESB just adds insult.
I understand. All I’m saying is that you should be a little more specific, whether you dislike or like a project throwing out a vague reason for why doesn’t really help anything. If you dislike a project give me reasons why (the style, the materials, the shape, the location…) so others can either agree or disagree and we can have a discussion about it.
It’s fair enough to say it is going to be the location.
Yes, I know. Anyways, as all opinions on this have been provided, let’s wait until we get some more news before we keep pushing this to the top over some other developments.
Stache, better get that tin foil hat ready
I don’t like this building either, but one ugly building has never ruined NYC’s skyline. I also would have preferred that the southern view of ESB remain unblocked, but view corridors are a tricky thing IMO. Easy to become a slippery slope. Once you have view corridors for ESB or Chrysler, every NIMBY group in the city would start demanding view corridors for their local landmarks. Politicians would pander to rich NIMBYs by promising more view corridors. Buildings would have weird shapes to accommodate them like London–and then people would complain about the funny-shaped towers in the skyline!
I don’t care about any other building. It’s as if they built a building in front of Big Ben or the Eiffel Tower. You just wouldn’t do it. They can build tall anywhere in the city, and they should, but not near the Empire State Building. That’s not a hard rule to follow.
“That’s not a hard rule to follow.” It’s also not a rule at all. Nor has it ever been one. Nor will ever be one.
Could someone please convince me how this building is a good thing? I don’t mind It being built, but it needs to be moved just a bit so it doesn’t block the Empire State Building.
Did the filings ever mention a completion date? I imagine this will fly up pretty quick because of its size
