It’ll be nuts no matter what. It was designed in Moscow, what makes anyone think Russians can design for NYC? Even British firms seem to struggle.
The bar is really low right now though for luxury residential; to be honest I’ll be happy as long as it doesnt stall forever like 125 Greenwich. Which it probably will if its made from some sort of Russian dirty money. Does anyone know this Boris guy’s reputation?

Oh my, gosh! If this is built, then New York City is DEAD. The Empire State Building is world’s most famous building. If they want to scale down empire station to preserve the Empire State Building, then wtf is this monstrosity built just a few blocks south, blocking the iconic southern view of the Empire State Building?

This building DESTROYS the Empire State Building. Maybe that would be OK if it were a mega tall, but it is not.

Something like this project on 5th Avenue just a couple blocks away from the Empire State Building really begs the question of whether or not the old girl still has it in her to continue dominating the way she has. I mean, if they continue developing the West Side skyline, and Midtown East has its projected resurgence, the Empire State Building is stuck smack dab in the middle of all this, with no breathing room in a vastly-different city. That’s why my MetLife North proposal would be so good for New York; It gives the city a new Art-Deco icon for the 21st Century, some breathing room for the style. That southern exposure is so crucial for the status of the Empire State Building, and it’s dying.

Where are the NIMBYS when you need them… I love how not a soul campaigns against about this hideous, out of context troll tower, but yet there are legions of cranky old rich people and corrupt officials ready to sue and obstruct whenever a developer makes a classy tower in an appropriate location.

Some articles indicated that there will be minor design tweaks, but I’d imagine that this is largely what will be built. This is going to look absolutely absurd.
