I still believe that they’re going to eventually get an architectural cover, or maybe it’s just wishful thinking since the whole building is a disaster, not that the cover would make things “that” much better…
A prime example of subversive architecture.
Does anyone know what the hold up is?
They have no $.
Also interesting that Amazon has not taken down the L&T sign.
Just noticed that this ArchDaily article has renderings of the current design that I’ve never seen posted before. Better late than never!
Unfortunately, the renders, while still terrible, don’t accurately depict how horrible the actual thing is.
This would’ve been minusculely better if the side core wasn’t being clad is such dark pv panels which is gonna make it look like a tall black stick just chillin in the skyline.
Eternally under construction.
That is true; and relatively speaking all of the buildings being constructed in the USA take an “eternity” to complete. There is a well known productivity crisis in the construction sector; and we are currently at the precipice of a major change in the landscape. This change is being driven partly due to the ubiquity of AI as a force multiplier in our informatioin processing capabilities.
Why buildings take an eternity to complete, and what changes are currently taking place to remedy this current state of affairs is partly addressed in this article - AI is transforming work in AEC.
Thanks for your remark, as it has prompted me to do a deep dive into one of the myriad reasons why 262 Fifth (and Construction in general) take an “eternity” to complete . Enjoy the read.
Can you please send a new image because of the tree?
Sadly not as I am not there currently but I’ll take it again next time I’m there
