Looks like this one is killing quite a bit of the views for Woolworth tower people.
What an improvement on the streetscape and skyline!
This is all around a great project.
I’m just glad it kinda blocks 5 Beekman (the one with the pvc piping at the top). Terrible tower (5 Beekman)
The windows above the residential entrance really look splendid with their finely wrought screening. Looks much better in person than in my hastily snapped photo; and will look even more striking at night–as the rendering below indicates.
Projects like this are the primary reason why I’m pro-development. This area went from trashy to classy thanks to this tower. What a wonderful example of the good things development can do. I just wish we had more developments like this and less Sam Chang/Gene Kaufman monstrosities that actively make neighborhoods worse.
I think the Chinese are banking on all these hotel areas eventually being zoned residential, then they can condo these buildings.
