No CPT to be seen anywhere and Vornado knew it would be towering over them to the Southeast from the getgo. I like Stern’s park place tower much better but this one probably made twice as much $. All about that location baby

Very true. Yeah between deleting towers or making proxy developments 80% smaller than they, render makers play with reality.

This one is great.

Very very tiny nearby towers that in reality are over 980 ft.

And it has to be intentional, otherwise whoever designed it must of got an F in rendering class.

This is absolutely hilarious they make the hudson yards towers look so small and pudgy LOL

Lol these are great. I feel like we could start a separate thread just to show off, discuss and be amused by innacurate renders.

I support this. There should be a gallery of terrible renders.

I agree that “illustration” is misleading, and will only lead to disappointment when the actual structure is completed: it like when a movie gets completely over hyped - the real thin is a bit of a let down. On a side note. I have always had some concern about the use of the word ‘render’ when referring to an architectural ‘illustration’ . I have always used either the term “rendering” or “illustration”. I suspect that the use of the word ‘render’ in this context is an improper or incorrect use of the word. I checked the dictionary and still can not come up with a definitive on that question: till then I will say ‘rendering’ or ‘illustration’.

Technically, you’re right about ‘render’ – ‘render’ is a verb, whereas ‘rendering’ is a noun (a gerund to be exact).

Strictly speaking, then, an architectural illustration should be called a ‘rendering’ not a ‘render’ (just as a canvas in a museum is not a ‘paint’ but a ‘painting’). I try to follow this usage myself, but alas in the battle between prescriptive and descriptive grammar, descriptivism often wins out! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey, thats is a great clarification - good to know there are grammarians in forum - because the word ‘render’ has been common usage in most architectural forums; and reading it has always seemed somehow wrong. I guess that makes me ‘right’ at least when it comes to strictly prescriptive grammar; or better “technically speaking”.

That’s good to know, especially for a person who makes renderings

Builders build buildings.
Painters paint paintings.
And renderers – including awesome ones like you @TK2000 – render renderings!

Again that’s what’s technically correct according to traditional grammatical categories; but ‘render’ is so commonly used as a noun these days that it may soon be accepted as correct – if it hasn’t already!
