NEW YORK | 111 West 57th St | 1,428 FT | 91 FLOORS

Thanks for the kind words. There’s a lot of great detail on this building. Intricate little qualities appear upon closer inspection. I sometimes go back to my photos to find new things I didn’t see the first time. This building is rewarding in both the construction and architectural details.

Yeah great shots but I wouldn’t want to be the one to answer when the FAA shows up outside the Dronalists door. The fines are pretty hefty. None of those flights are legal and I’m surprised they’re still happening.

That footage looks old considering the lack of One Vanderbilts crown

I agree! I always wondered if he was filming with or without a registration and appropriate pilot’s license! The shots while amazing and maybe useful for the historical do seem to be a big risk if the Dronalist is just zooming around until he is stopped and fined.

I have a dji and it tells you where you cant and can fly. Most of NYC is fair game but the area from 39th to about 59th is a “special” zone that just requires full name verification. Downtown area is altitude restricted for newark airport.

Uh. It sounds like DJI needs to update their database. It’s not legal to fly a drone anywhere in Manhattan. In general, it’s not legal to fly over people (except yourself), so that also effectively excludes Manhattan. You’re breaking multiple laws by flying any drone in Manhattan.

Wrong there are flight restrictions for 2 nautical miles around Trump Tower alone. And those are enforced by the Secret Service:

Do you seriously think that 6 major TV networks Bloomberg, CNN, Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC (each with their own in-house drone teams) have zero interest in taking these epic shots themselves? Of course they do, but they either use a static shot from on top of the building or else fly a chopper because the drones are violating airspace rules!

The Dronalist will not only lose the drone but will end up paying heavy fines and probably lose his or her license.

In case anyone missed the NYTimes / Nat Geo photographer that had his drone confiscated:

Looks like this tower got some closings

Looking good so far. The post COVID-19 real estate market most likely will see even more price cutting on ultra luxury condos; the market before the virus outbreak was already showing signs of slowing. ON the other hand, the possibility of ‘pent-up demand’ after a long hiatus in the market may result in brisk buying activity and rising prices: I have heard all sorts of economic prognostications - time will tell.

I read the comment posted below in the YIMBY news comments section. I honestly do not know what the “elephant in the room” is on the completion delays on the crown of this building: he is surly not referring to the COVID-19 delay. Then what is the delay; so hard to get industry inside information. If anyone has news on why the crown is not proceeding as planned - please do inform or enlighten us on this aspect of the project. I honestly thought is was due to the difficulty/complexity of the hight tower and steel work, plus the work stoppage due to the COVID - 19 virus.

Ha ha!
This website is so pro-building gung-ho they really do resist acknowledging the elephant in the room.

They’re currently permitted anyway as essential and the main job # has been approved so they could install the crown now

This poster, David in Bushwich, is obviously referring to something nefarious: he seems to know that it is ready and approved to go - but there is some ‘undisclosed’ reason there is little progress being made in completing the crown. This may just be conspiracy stuff on his part, but perhaps the “elephant” in the room is simply that the tower operator/rigger has not been paid, maybe there is some other type construction dispute: there does seem to be something odd going on - the pace has been glacial even with the COVID-19 delays taken into account. Who knows?
